Description
The 1/4″ Glass Fuel Filter Kit has a glass body that is easily broken and prone to leaking especially with todays high ethanol fuels. The filter comes with a replaceable plastic filter. If you will be using the glass filter, make sure to secure it and we recommendwrapping it with a piece of radiator hose to keep it from breaking. Additionally, we recommend replacing it every year (if not sooner)depending on the amount of ethanol in the fuel in your area.
As the glass filters are so prone to breaking and leaking we highly recommend that you order a BlazeCut Fire Suppression System to help extinguish any engine fires that may be cause by a leak.
Do do not mount the fuel filter in the engine compartment.
We recommend mounting the fuel filter near the transmission, close to where metal fuel line exits the chassis.
The ethanol blended in fuels today deteriorate the fuel hose faster. If/when this occurs, there’s the risk that the connection at the fuel filter fails. If this happens in the engine compartment where things are hotand the distributor is making sparks, your car catches on fire.Yes, changing the fuel filter for maintenance is more difficult when the fuel filter is near the transmission, but it is much less difficult than dealing with an engine fire. Regardless of where your filter was or what you’ve seen in the past, we recommend that you re-locate it out of the engine compartment and do not under any circumstance mount it in the engine compartment above the distributor.
