Description
The Bosch 02086 Ignition Condenser works in conjunction with the points and installs on the side the distributor. The condenser hooks up to the negative ( – or 1) side of the coil as well as the points (inside the distributor). The 02086 condenser fits the Bosch 0231 178 009 and the 9230 081 050 distributors. Neither distributor came in VW models originally but both can be found in Beetles, Ghias, Buses, Type 3s and Things today.
Please note that the fitments listed are for what VW originally equipped the model listed with. It is very possible that after 40 years, the distributor may have been changed so we recommend verifying your distributor before ordering any distributor parts.
Beginner Tips:
The VW Ignition condensor is attached to the side of the VW distributor. It typically has a green wire and connects the points to the NEGATIVE side of the coil.
